We encourage visitors to walk, cycle or use public transport to the Museum.
Please check tfl.gov.uk for closures on the Overground, particularly at weekends.
By public transport
Train: The closest station to the main museum entrance is Hoxton (London Overground, Windrush Line), 10 metres from the main museum entrance. Hoxton Station has step-free access and London Overground staff are available to assist passengers during museum opening times.
Geffrye Street is a pedestrianised zone with no traffic and some cobbled paving. There is step-free access to the museum from Geffrye Street.
Bus: The closest bus stops are on Kingsland Road. Buses 149, 242, 243 and 394 stop on Kingsland Road.
Northbound buses towards Dalston Junction stop at ‘Hoxton Station / Museum of the Home (KA)’. The stop is on the opposite side of a busy road from the Museum. There is a pedestrian crossing near the bus stop.
Southbound buses towards Liverpool Street and Waterloo stop at ‘Hoxton Station/ Museum of the Home (KN)’. This stop is on the same side of the road as the museum.
By bike
We have 8 bike racks in the Kingsland Road Gardens and there are Santander Cycle docking stations at Falkirk Street and Geffrye Street. We don't allow folding bikes inside.
By car
Parking locally is very limited. Blue Badge holders may park in bays on Kingsland Road (up to 3 hours, 10am–4pm). The bays are alongside the central Museum gates. There is ramped access into the gardens from the north and central gates.

By coach
Coaches can use bus stop KN on Kingsland Road for drop off and pick up only. Parking and waiting are not permitted.

You must arrive at least 10 minutes before your event starts. Please report to the Front Desk with your ticket and we will direct you to the event. Each event will start promptly and unfortunately we cannot wait for late arrivals

Entrance is free and you do not need to book in advance. When it is very busy, we might ask you to wait before entering the gallery spaces. This helps us to spread out visitors and create a more comfortable environment for everyone.
If you are attending a ticketed event, you must book a ticket in advance online from the event page. If there are any special instructions for your event, these will be included in the order confirmation or sent to you by email before your event starts. Save paper and ink; be good to the environment. Just bring your ticket on your mobile phone.
Unless otherwise stated: young people aged 16 years old and under, people aged 16 - 30 years old, people aged 65+, individuals on Universal Credit, NHS workers and individuals with disabilities.
Individuals with disabilities are entitled to a complimentary ticket for a companion, should you require a companion ticket, please contact bookings@museumofthehome.org.uk .
Children aged under 4 years are free.
Tickets must be purchased for children aged 4 to 16 years.
Yes, National Art Pass entitles to 50% off paid exhibitions as well as 10% off in our Shop. Qualifying exhibitions have a National Art Pass ticket option. Please select this ticket and make sure to bring your Art Pass with you on the day and show it to a member of staff when you arrive.
